school work

In my school work I had to read the book "Sir Gawain and the Loathly Lady" and I had to shorten it and tell it in my own words, so here it is. It's not the best story in the world but it wins the "Christopher's Story for the Day Award" (just joking).

Sir Gawain and the Loathly Lady

King Arthur was lost. He had been hunting for food. He had lost his companions and he was standing on the edge of a black lake. Just then he saw a black knight on his horse. The black knight rode forward to greet Arthur. He said, “If you can answer this question, you will stay king.” The question was, “what does a lady desire most?”

King Arthur was walking back to his castle, thinking about the question when suddenly he saw a lady sitting on a rock. He went over to her and asked her the question. At first, she didn’t answer, but then she turned her head to face him and King Arthur gasped. He saw that her face was covered with sores and her nose was long. She had a few strands of hair hanging from her scratched scalp. She had a surprisingly beautiful voice for one so loathly as she answered King Arthur’s question. She said “A woman’s desire is to have her own way”.
Then she said “Now I want something from you. King Arthur said “Yes my lady. Anything”
The lady said, “I wish for one of your knights for my husband.”
King Arthur hesitated and said “My lady that is impossible”
The loathly lady said, “A king always sticks to his word.”
King Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, “Yes, I will come back with one of my knights”.
King Arthur came back with one of his best knights, Sir Gawain. The next morning Gawain and the lady were married.
Gawain found out why the lady was so ugly. She told him it was a spell. That night Gawain was with the lady when suddenly she turned into the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.
She told Gawain that the spell was now half broken and asked him whether he would like her to be ugly at night or in the day. Gawain thought and said, “at day, my lady,” and then she said “I don’t want the people staring at me in the daytime.” Gawain was ashamed, so he said, “at night time.”
Then the lady said “Would you like to sleep with me as an ugly lady?” Then Gawain said “I cannot choose. You choose.”
She slung her beautiful arms around Gawain and said “You broke the spell. A girl must have what she most desires. In allowing me to choose for myself you broke the spell.”

Birthday Boy and Paths

Yesterday dad turned 48 and we decided (Catherine, mum and I) to go out for the morning. We were going to go shopping but while we were driving along the road mum said "Do you want to go to Sunshine Plaza?". Catherine and I said "yes", and we ended up watching Ratatouille at the movies. We also had a spot of morning tea at this donut place called Dreamy Donuts, and they were scrumptious. We decided to call Donut King, "Donut ex-King". Then we decided to buy a family pack of donuts for dad's birthday cake. Afterwards we went to Subway for lunch, then we set off to try and find Nambour.

We were driving along the road and mum saw an information centre, so mum went in. She came out and said "we've been driving the wrong way", so we turned around and started heading the other way. It turns out that Nambour is right near Maroochydore. Then I had to go to the dentist. Once we were in Nambour we had to find the hospital. We finally found it and after I had gone to the dentist we had to go to mum's uni.

We got there in the end, and it was pouring rain. We got out and there was this little wooden bridge - I called it a floodway for my wheelchair! We had afternoon tea - half a sandwich and a bottle of water. Then we set off again to do some shopping at Spotlight. Once we did all that and were heading home, I was secretly hoping that the floodway was not flooded in, otherwise we couldn't get home.

We got home soaking wet and we had a nice dinner and dad got his donuts with one candle on top.

About the paths. I know its a bit late but I'm getting paths down to what we call the Fern Faery Fen (you probably read about it on dad and Catherine's blogs). I'm really excited. I'm mostly excited about the machinery. The other day we got a dump truck full of mulch for the leveling out of the paths. In early October we're going to have a bobcat and an excavator carve a two-hundred metre long path for me. We're also going to get at least one dump truck of gravel for me to easily go over the path in my wheelchair.

Back to Toowoomba

Last weekend, we went back to Toowoomba to visit our family. As usual, Catherine and Emma played together on the computer. Some of the games they played I liked. On the second day, Uncle Brad and Auntie Linda came over with William. Aunty Lesle and Uncle Col also came. They had some unexpected things to give us. The girls got a packet of peanut pretzles and I got a "Mega" book. After a very satisfying lunch, as usual with Gran Gran's cooking, Mum took us (that includes Emma, Catherine and me) out to the shops so I could use some of my money to buy a Discovery DVD. By the way, I've got 21 Discovery DVDs.
Mum was going to give us some money and have afternoon tea but mum's credit card got eaten by the machine. It's still in Toowoomba 3 days later.
That night we went out to Sizzler to celebrate Gran Gran's birthday. We asked waiter before we came to bring out a blackforest birthday cake, but when they came out, they had an icecream cake instead, but we all enjoyed it and we took it home. The next day after lunch we went back to Mooloolah.

New Book

Last weekend, Dad and Mum went away for the weekend to stay in Caloundra while Oma and Opa were looking after us. Mum and Dad went to the markets and bought some little things for the family. When they came back and Oma and Opa left they said they had some presents for us. One of those presents for me was a big Ships book called SeaPower. I had another book called Classic Fighters and this book was written by the same author. You can look up different kinds of ships and see photographs of them.

ship ahoy

A week ago, Dad and I were taking a walk along Caloundra boardwalk. We saw this battleship coming along past us. We didn't have a camera with us, but Pa was up in the unit and he took a picture of it.
We didn't see a flag on it, but we knew it was an American ship. Dad thinks it was a frigate.

a new life

I am back again after 1 year. I'm now just turned 11 years old and my sister, Catherine has just turned 9.
Four weeks ago today we moved into Mooloolah. We're not in Mooloolah village, we're in Mooloolah Valley. Here are some pictures of our removalists truck trying to get up our rather steep and narrow driveway. The driver actually broke off one of the truck lights under a tree.

Me

I am called Christopher. I'm only nine. I've got a cat, one sister, no brothers, a dad and a mum. My sister is called Catherine. My mum is Dutch. Her name is Tamara. She doesn't have a middle name. My dad is Australian. He's called Garry William Lloyd.



I forgot - I'm in a wheelchair. I've got CP, which means cerebral palsy, and diabetes.

Visitors

About three weeks ago, some relatives came over from Holland. Their names are Ocky and Maxx. Like my grandfather, they are very crazy (in a good way), especially Ocky. Here is a picture of them:

My Life

I do home school and I go to a school named Gabbinbar six hours a week. I like my friends and my teachers. I can't feed myself so daddy and mummy feed me. I like that.

I'm rich - not because of money, but because of family. I have a full family: with uncles, aunties, six cousins (so far), a mum and a dad, a sister, and two pairs of grandparents. One of my uncles just got married and I'm excited about that. He married a young lady called Linda who is now aunty Linda.
